                                                                           Publication Ethics and Rules of Marine Origin Petroleum Geology

 

In order to strengthen the construction of professional ethics and academic integrity of journal publishing, standardize the process and behavior of paper writing, submission, review, editing and publishing, and resist academic misconduct, the publication ethics of Marine Origin Petroleum Geology is formulated in accordance with the copyright law, publishing norms and ethics requirements. 

1. Manuscript review rules           

(1) The journal implements the "double blind review" peer review system. The manuscript is sent to two reviewers for review at the same time, and the reviewer and the author is masked in both directions.           

(2) The author can recommend one or more scholars in the professional field of the thesis to the editorial department as an alternative reviewer.           

(3) The reviewers include editorial board members, young editorial board members, scholars recommended by the authors, and other scholars who have the conditions for reviewing manuscripts.           

(4) For special contributions and solicited contributions, only one reviewer can be sent for peer review after the contributors or soliciters review the contributions, or the editors who are familiar with the professional field of the paper can review the contributions.           

(5) The review process of Marine Origin Petroleum Geology: Editorial Department's preliminary review (including duplication check) → rejection or submission to experts for external review → rejection or revision → rejection or re-examination or proposed acception after revision→ or proposed after re-examination → chief editor's final review and rejection or acception decided by Editor-in-chief.         

2. The author's publishing ethics            

(1) The author should be the person who has made substantial contributions to the paper or scientific research achievements and has agreed to sign his name, and other person shall not be listed as the author of the paper..           

(2) The author and author's institution shall be indicated when the manuscript is submitted. Authors' signatures shall be sorted according to their contributions, and shall be agreed upon by the authors of the paper. They shall not be changed without proper reasons.          

(3) The author shall be responsible for the authenticity, reliability and research results of the paper, and shall not forge or tamper with the experimental data and results, and shall not copy or plagiarize the research results of others.           

(4) The author shall give an objective evaluation of the research results of others, correctly index them in the manuscript, and indicate their sources in accordance with relevant regulations.           

(5) The author shall review the confidentiality of the paper before submitting it to ensure that the content of the paper does not involve state secrets and the business secrets of the company to which the author belongs.          

(6) The author shall not submit the manuscript to multiple journals at the same time, and shall not publish the published manuscript repeatedly.           

(7) When recommending reviewers, the author should follow the avoidance principle and avoid recommending reviewers with interests such as colleagues, teachers, friends and partners.           

(8) The author should respect the review opinions and revise and improve the manuscript according to the review opinions. If you have any objection to the review opinions, you can submit written materials to the editorial department for reply.           

3. The editors' publishing ethics           

(1) The editorial department adopts a unified and standardized review process for the contributions, strictly implements the review procedures, handles all contributions in a timely and fair manner, and respects the results of peer review and final review.

(2) The editorial department adopts the "double-blind review system" to keep the information of authors and reviewers confidential. The editorial department and editors shall keep the contents of the manuscript confidential before the paper is published.           

(3) The editor shall edit and process the style, structure, text, table, figure, number, quantity and unit of the manuscript in strict accordance with the writing and editing and publishing standards of scientific papers, so as to improve the editing and proofreading quality and academic quality of the manuscript.           

(4) The editor should respect the author's writing habits and style, the author's research results and academic opinions, and ensure the academic integrity of the manuscript. Without the consent of the author, the editor should not modify the important views and important contents of the manuscript.           

(5) The editorial department protects the intellectual property rights of the author and the author's institution and does not use the author's research results in violation of regulations.           

4. The reviewers' publishing ethics           

(1) The reviewers should understand the orientation and review requirements of the journal, and examine whether their professional knowledge and research direction match the reviewed manuscript. If there is no match, the editorial department should be informed in time to replace the reviewer.           

(2) When the reviewer has an interest relationship with the author and the author's institution of the manuscript, he/she should actively inform the editorial department and avoid reviewing the manuscript.           

(3) Without the permission of the editorial department, the reviewer shall not transfer the paper to others for review.           

(4) The reviewer shall review the manuscript in time according to the agreement. If the reviewer fails to review the manuscript in time for some reason, he/she shall inform the editorial department in time and withdraw the review.           

(5) The reviewers shall keep the contents of the manuscript confidential and shall not use the author's research results in violation of regulations.           

(6) In the process of reviewing the manuscript, the reviewer should check whether the manuscript has plagiarism, tampering, forgery, republication and other academic misconduct. If there is any suspicion of such behavior, the reviewer should promptly inform the editorial department and provide relevant information.           

(7) The reviewers should follow the principle of academic freedom, evaluate the manuscript objectively, impartially and scientifically, and put forward reasonable and achievable constructive opinions. The reviewers shall not impose their academic opinions on the authors without sufficient basis, and require the authors to quote their own papers and opinions.

5. Recognition and treatment of academic misconduct           

This journal uses the "Academic Misconduct Document Detection System of Science and Technology Journals" of CNKI to check the duplicate of the submitted papers and the papers to be published, and the reviewer and the responsible editor will conduct a substantive review of the technical route, research methods, experimental data, charts, achievement recognition and other important contents of the papers to determine whether there is academic misconduct, and deal with it according to the identification results.           

(1) Recognition of academic misconduct            

The following acts are recognized as academic misconduct:           

① Copy and plagiarize the text, data, charts and other contents of other people's research reports and papers in a large space, and plagiarize other people's research results.          

② Use others' opinions, data, charts, etc., without indicating the source or listing the corresponding references.           

③ Forge and tamper with experimental data, survey data, literature and research results.            ④ The research results of the team are published or submitted independently as individual achievements, or the signature and ranking of the papers are inconsistent with their actual contributions.            

⑤ Submit the same manuscript to this journal and other journals at the same time, or submit it again after slightly modifying the published paper.         

(2) Treatment of academic misconduct           

This journal deals with academic misconduct as follows:

① For the papers with academic misconduct, the editorial department shall notify the author in time and allow the author to explain and defend.           

② For academic misconduct such as not indicating the source or not listing the corresponding reference documents, improper signature of the paper, the editorial department requires the author to rectify and decide whether to accept after completing the modification.           

③ For serious academic misconduct such as plagiarism of other people's research results, tampering with experimental data, multiple submissions of a manuscript, and repeated publication, the editorial department will reject the manuscript, criticize and educate the author, and notify the author institution and relevant academic groups for further treatment.           

④ For authors who have serious academic misconduct, this journal will not accept papers written by them as the first author or corresponding author within five years.

6. Statement of intellectual property           

(1) Once the paper is accepted, the editorial department will issue an "Acception Notice" to the author, and the author of the paper needs to sign an "Copyright Transfer Agreement" with the editorial department. According to the agreement, the author transfers the following rights of the paper to the editorial department: ①compilation right (part or all of the paper); ② translation right; ③reproduction right (including printing, photocopying, electronic reproduction and other production methods); ④issuance right; ⑤network communication right; ⑥exhibition right.           

(2) If an intellectual property dispute arises among the author, reviewer, editorial department and online publishing platform due to the publication of the paper, the parties concerned shall settle it through consultation based on the spirit of law and publishing ethics. If the negotiation fails, it shall be settled through judicial procedures in accordance with the Chinese intellectual property law. The editorial department shall provide necessary assistance for the settlement of the dispute.
