Oil and gas resources are the basis of oil and gas industry, which greatly affects the development of national economy. China’s oil exploration situation has undergone significant changes: the annual increase in proven oil reserves has declined, the annual oil production has declined for three years (2016-2018), and the external dependence of oil in 2018 is as high as 73%. Therefore, it is urgent to carry out a comprehensive and objective evaluation of the status of oil and gas resources, consolidate the basis of domestic conventional and unconventional oil and gas resources, and clarify the key exploration areas and favorable exploration directions of remaining oil and gas resources. Based on the achievements of oil and gas exploration, geological recognition and data accumulation in recent 10 years, PetroChina has setup a technical system of conventional and unconventional oil and gas resource evaluation. The 4th oil and gas resources evaluation has been carried out for PetroChina’s mining areas and major petroleum basins in China. The evaluation results show that the amount of China’s conventional oil geological resource is about 1 080×108 t, and that of unconventional oil is 672.08×108 t, including 125.80×108 t of dense oil, 533.73×108 t of oil-shale oil, and 12.55×108 t of oil-sand oil. The remaining conventional oil resource on land are mainly distributed in fields of lithology-stratigraphy (clastic rocks) and complex structures, while those in sea areas are mainly concentrated in three fields: marine structure, reef and deep-water lithology. Based on the analysis of remaining oil resource, 20 realistic favorable zones for conventional oil, 12 favorable target zones for tight oil, 6 open-pit targets for oil-shale oil, 4 in-situ reconstruction targets for oil-shale oil, and 5 favorable targets for oil-sand oil were selected. |
